Day of Atonement

*Yom Kippur — Two Goats, One Atonement* Lev 16:7-10 — Aaron takes two goats. One lot for YHWH, one lot for Azazel. Same enclosure. One offering. Two parts. *The Names:* _Az_ — _az_ [עז] — means goat. Also means strength and praise. Same word. Goat is the strong one. _Azel_ — _azal_ [אזל] — means to go away, to be removed, to be gone. To disappear to wilderness. _Azazel_ — _azazel_ [עזאזל] — Goat of Removal. The goat that goes away. Peshitta OT keeps the name — _la'Azazel_ — does not translate it to Lord. *Two Goats — Two Works:* *1. Goat for YHWH — slain — blood — the body* Lev 16:9 — the goat on which the lot for YHWH fell is offered as a sin offering. Blood brought inside the veil before the mercy seat. This is the body — the sacrifice — Yeshua as the Lamb — blood shed for YHWH. *2. Goat for Azazel — live — bearing — sent away* Lev 16:10 — the goat on which the lot for Azazel fell shall stand alive before YHWH to atone upon him, to send him away to Azazel to the wilderness. Lev 16:21-22 — Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat and confess over him all the iniquities of Israel. The goat shall bear all their iniquities to a land cut off. Hebrew for cut off is _gezerah_ — same as Isa 53:8 — cut off from the land of the living. This is Yah descending — not body but Spirit — alive — going away to wilderness — to Sheol — bearing sin away. *YHWH Laid Upon Him All Our Sins:* Isa 53:6 — All we like sheep have gone astray, each to his own way, and YHWH laid upon Him all our iniquity. The laying on is _semikhah_ — both hands pressing — weight transfer. In Leviticus Aaron lays hands. In Isaiah YHWH Himself lays — He causes all our iniquity to meet upon Him. One goat pierced — Goat for YHWH. One goat bearing — Goat for Azazel. One Messiah does both. *Why Azazel matters:* Enoch 9:6 names Azazel — what Azazel has done who taught unrighteousness and revealed eternal secrets. Enoch 10:4 — bind Azazel hand and foot and cast into darkness in desert Dudael. Fallen Azazel claims wilderness. Claims to be remover. Teaches _oz_ [עז] — strength — metallurgy — swords — Enoch 8:1. But cannot bear sin. Only true Azazel — Goat that goes away — Yah descending — can bear and remove — Ps 103:12 — as far as east is from west. *I Must Go Away — Peshitta:* Yeshua said it must be this way. John 16:7 in Peshitta Aramaic: _paqah lkhon d'ana azal ana_ [ܦܩܚ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ] — It is expedient for you that I go away — _azal ana_ — I go away — same root as _azal_ [אזל] — Azel. If I go not away, the Comforter will not come. _Azal_ is the second goat — must go away to return. *Ayin and Zayin — Eye and Instrument:* _Ayin_ — _ayin_ [ע] — is eye — to watch, to concentrate upon task, to focus attention. _Zayin_ — _zayin_ [ז] — is mattock — instrument for threshing — represents all instruments — which when used with eye focused helps complete the task. Sword is strength when eye is focused. Trumpet is warning when eye is focused. Piano is praise when eye is focused. Mouths of children can be focused to pure praise — Ps 8:2 — from mouths of babes You have founded strength — _oz_ [עז] — praise. Truly you have perfect praise! Goat is instrument of redemption — twofold: 1. For sacrifice for YHWH 2. For sin removal for Azazel But Name is given as instrument for drawing near. Ex 15:2 and Ps 118:14 — _ozi ve'zimrat Yah va'yehi li li'Yeshuah_ — Yah is my _oz_ [עז] — my strength, my praise, my song — and is become my Yeshua. Thus our confession that Yah is Yeshua is our instrument of praise — our instrument of drawing near. Yeshua leads us to the Man — Goat for YHWH — sacrifice — we draw near by blood. Hallelu-Yah leads us to draw forth living waters from the Man as we come before Him in faith — Isa 12:3 — with joy shall ye draw water from wells of Yeshua. Thus Hallelu-Yah Yeshua is our highest praise — our drawing near.
