*AMAD: To Stand. To Be Immersed. To Stand Before Master Yah (Mar-Yah)*
Everyone knows the Greek word _baptizo_ means to immerse.
What they don't tell you is that Greek was not the original. Greek is a translation of Jewish Aramaic. And the Peshitta we have today is a simplified Syriac version of that original Galilean Aramaic.
When you go back to the original, the lie breaks.
The word we translate as "baptism" is not a ritual word at all.
It is *AMAD ( ܥܡܕ / עמד )*
In Biblical Hebrew, AMAD ( עמד ) means one thing only: *TO STAND.*
> _Amad lifnei Yah_ - to stand before Yah.
But in the Jewish Aramaic of Yeshua and Yochanan, AMAD ( ܥܡܕ ) gained a second meaning. It became the word for immersion.
Why? How does "to stand" become "to immerse"?
*Because you cannot stand before Master Yah (Mar-Yah) without first standing in water.*
This is Temple.
A man who is tameh (unclean) cannot AMAD ( עמד ) in the Temple court. He cannot stand in the Amidah ( העמידה ) - the Standing prayer. He is cut off.
What must he do? He must go down to the mikveh (ritual pool). He must *stand in the water.* And when he comes up, he is tahor (clean) - he is now qualified to go up and *stand before Master Yah (Mar-Yah) in the Temple.*
So daily Jewish life created a shorthand:
To AMAD B'MAYA ( ܥܡܕ ܒܡܝܐ ) - to stand in water - meant to be purified so you could AMAD ( ܥܡܕ ) before God.
Over time, that shorthand became the common Aramaic word for immersion itself.
- *AMAD ( ܥܡܕ )* = to stand, to be made to stand in water, to be immersed
- *MA'MDANA ( ܡܥܡܕܢܐ )* = The one who causes you to stand. The Immerser.
- *MA'MUDITHA ( ܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ )* = The standing. The immersion. The qualification to stand before Him.
Do you see it?
Yochanan Ma'mdana ( ܝܘܚܢܢ ܡܥܡܕܢܐ ) was not inventing a new Christian sacrament. He was doing the oldest Jewish job - he was the gatekeeper of standing before Yah.
He stood at Yarden (Jordan) and cried:
> "You want to stand before Master Yah (Mar-Yah)? Then you must first stand in water! Because the Temple is coming to you! Master Yah (Mar-Yah) Yeshua is here!"
That is why Yochanan said, "I have need to be Ma'mud ( ܥܡܕ ) by You."
How can the gatekeeper immerse the Temple itself?
The Greeks erased all of this. They did not translate AMAD ( ܥܡܕ ) as "to be made to stand." They transliterated it as _baptizo_. A blank religious word that allows sprinkling, pouring, anything. No standing required.
And the Peshitta, which is already a simplification from Galilean Jewish Aramaic to simple Syriac for the mission field, kept the word AMAD ( ܥܡܕ ) but lost the Temple context after the Temple was destroyed in 70AD.
But when we restore the original:
*Ma'muditha ( ܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ ) in the Name of Master Yah (Mar-Yah) Yeshua is not a ritual.*
*It is burial and resurrection. You go down, and you are MADE TO STAND again before Master Yah (Mar-Yah). You are raised to stand where you could not stand before.*
> Romans 6:4 - Buried with Him in Ma'muditha ( ܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ ), that as Master Yah (Mar-Yah) was raised, so we also might stand in new life.
This is why the Apostles never baptized in titles. They immersed into the Name that allows us to STAND.
*Ma'muditha ( ܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ ) b'Shem Master Yah (Mar-Yah) Yeshua.*
Not sprinkled. Not in titles.
Immersed, to stand.
