ROMANS 10:16 - THE SMOKING GUN FOR ARAMAIC PESHITTA PRIMACY
Hear It With Your Own Eyes
The Greek primacists tell us Paul quoted the LXX. Blanket statements. Ignorant blanket statements. They never tackle one verse at a time. I am tackling them one by one.
ROMANS 10:16
Greek NT:
"Lord, who hath believed our report?"
Peshitta NT - Etheridge 1849:
"But all of them have not obeyed the preaching of the gospel: for Eshaia saith, My Lord, who hath believed our voice?"
Peshitta NT - Lamsa:
"My LORD, who has believed the echoes of our voice?"
SEDRA analysis proves it -
l-barth qalan - ܠܒܪܬ ܩܠܢ - to the daughter of our voice.
Not report. Not akoe. Daughter.
NOW LOOK AT PESHITTA OT - ISAIAH 53:1
Peshitta OT Isaiah 53:1:
"Who believed our report - shma'na - and the arm of the LORD JEHOVAH to whom has been revealed?"
Manu hayman l-shma'n...
Peshitta OT has shma'na - our report. Just like Hebrew shmu'ah and Greek akoe.
But Peshitta NT Romans has barth qalan - daughter of our voice.
THE QUESTION
If the Peshitta was a translation from Greek, why would the translator change his OWN Old Testament?
He wouldn't.
LXX and Greek NT are identical at Isaiah 53:1 and Romans 10:16 - word for word:
tis episteusen te akoe hemon.
Peshitta OT and Peshitta NT are NOT identical. One has report, one has daughter of voice.
Only the hand of Paul could have written this.
WHY DID PAUL DO IT?
Because Paul is explaining the nature of the report.
Both Greek and Aramaic add Lord / My Lord. Why? To make sense of the first half without needing to quote the second half.
Greek adds Kyrie. Aramaic adds Mariy - My Lord. Not MarYah. Mariy. My Lord. A vocative. He is speaking to Him.
But what is the report?
Greek says akoe - a report. Flat. Dead.
Aramaic says barth qala - daughter of voice - echo. The first ripple from the original Voice of Yeshua the Messiah Himself.
The Gospel is not a report about Him. It is the echo OF His Voice still going out through us.
PAUL PROVES IT IN THE NEXT BREATH - ROMANS 10:18
Paul quotes Psalms 19:4
Hebrew Ps 19:4 says qavvam - their line / measuring cord / cord / hope - went out through all the earth.
LXX mistranslates qav as phthoggos - sound.
Peshitta Romans 10:18 keeps the depth:
qaleh - their voice, the echoes of their voices have gone out over all the earth.
So qav in Psalm 19 is a secondary voice. A daughter voice. An echo that goes throughout all the earth.
V16 - daughter of our voice goes out
V18 - and that daughter voice went out to all earth
V18 - and that daughter voice went out to all earth
Greek cannot equal this. Greek has akoe in v16 and phthoggos in v18 - two different words, no connection.
Aramaic has barth qala in v16 and qala in v18 - same root, same theology. The echo goes out.
This is depth that only Aramaic can give.
And what does Greek primacy say? That Aramaic translators go off the rail to give that depth. That it is uninspired. That we can ignore it.
Absurd though it be, that is Greek primacy position. They must claim the Peshitta translator was uninspired when he wrote daughter of our voice instead of report. They must throw away the echo of Messiah's Voice.
I will not.
Those who reject Aramaic Peshitta primacy, reject this foundational teaching of Paul.
This does not stand alone. It is backed by qav in Ps 19:4, Romans 10:18, where qav is a voice, secondary voice, daughter voice, going throughout all the earth.
Greek does not. Cannot equal this.
And that is my argument.
